Wes Bell
Wes Bell is a native of Dothan and a graduate of Northview Highschool. The bulk of Wes’s practice is trial focused, and he handles most of the litigation work for Hall & Bell. He’s tried numerous cases before a jury, both civil and criminal, and has routinely secured favorable verdicts for his clients. He focuses on personal injury claims, Title IX issues, contested estates, property disputes, evictions, breach of contract issues, various appellate issues, and all types of criminal defense.
Wes graduated Cum Laude from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University, earning several top papers and making Dean’s List every semester. While in law school, he served as Editor in Chief of the Faulkner Law Review and was a member of the Board of Advocates. Wes was very active in the Trial Advocacy program, winning trials against schools from all over the country. He earned several “Outstanding Advocate” awards at various competitions across the country. He was also awarded the highly coveted “Lewis F. Powell Medal for Excellence in Advocacy,” by the American College of Trial Lawyers when he and his trial partner won the National Trial Competition Southeast Regional over every accredited law school from Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
Additionally, while in law school, Wes had the opportunity to gain invaluable appellate experience by working as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Tommy Bryan, Associate Justice for the Supreme Court of Alabama.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Wes was a banker for about ten years, and most of his banking career was spent right here in the Wiregrass. He managed a Dothan bank branch for a number of years and was a loan officer in Dothan, Eufaula, and Clayton before that. Wes believes that, in a lot of ways, banking and law aren’t too different:
“Banking is all about trust. For someone to bank with you, they have to trust you. The practice of law is no different. When someone chooses a lawyer, they want someone they can trust. So, I work hard every day to earn my clients’ trust by being results-driven, by fighting tooth and nail for my clients’ interests, by regularly updating and advising them on their cases, and by being open and honest with my clients on where we stand.”
— Wes Bell
Upon graduation, Wes was offered a prestigious Honors Attorney position with the United States Department of Justice. However, he turned this offer down to raise his family right here in Dothan, Alabama. Wes feels blessed to call the Wiregrass his home and to provide legal services to its people.
